The management of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, has officially banned all forms of “sign-out” celebrations by graduating students after their final examinations.
The directive was contained in a press release signed on Monday, September 15, 2025, by the Deputy Registrar, Ibanga Nathaniel, and the Officer-in-Charge of Students’ Affairs.
The statement noted that the institution’s management was concerned with the “unacceptable celebrations” and had received complaints about the abuse of professional outfits during such events.
“Management has also noted that such activities have been going on in the Institution recently and have received complaints from various organizations on the abuse of their professional outfits,” the statement read in part.
According to the management, these activities violate the Polytechnic’s rules and regulations. The statement warned that any student found contravening the ban would face “severe disciplinary action” in line with the institution’s guidelines.
All students and student organizations are advised to comply strictly with the new directive.
