The Federal Government has taken a major step towards accelerating its economic and financial inclusion goals with the establishment of an inter-agency task force aimed at expediting conditional cash transfers to 15 million vulnerable Nigerian households.

This development follows the inauguration of the Technical Committee of the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI), a high-level initiative aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking at the committee’s inaugural meeting in Abuja, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, described the move as a coordinated national effort to eliminate barriers that have hindered the effective rollout of social protection programmes.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha.

Also speaking at the meeting, the committee’s Secretary, Dr. Nurudeen Zauro, who doubles as Technical Advisor to the President on Financial Inclusion, revealed that the committee had approved a strategic roadmap and governance structure for PreCEFI.

The task force is expected to play a pivotal role in ensuring that millions of economically vulnerable Nigerians benefit from the government’s financial support initiatives.
