Ini Ememobong, Commissioner of Akwa Ibom, Resigns and Refuses to Leave the PDP for the APC

Comrade Ini Ememobong, the Honorable Commissioner for Special Duties & Ibom Deep Sea Port of Akwa Ibom State, resigned from office after refusing to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside Governor Umo Eno. In a letter announcing his resignation, Ememobong cited his longstanding opposition to the APC and his commitment to politics with principles, stating that despite their personal relationship and the Governor’s confidence in him, he was unable to accompany the Governor on his political journey to the APC.

Ememobong, who served in two important ministries under Governor Eno, looked back on his tenure with gratitude for the opportunities he was given, and thanked the Governor and his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel, for their faith in him.

The commissioner asked for understanding from those who might be disappointed, acknowledging that his choice might not be popular with everyone. In closing, he affirmed his faith in God’s omnipotence and will.
